The classroom is our collective future

  • 88 Jolimont Street East Melbourne, VIC, 3002 Australia (map)

Almost 7 in 10 young people sentenced to detention or remand in Victoria were previously suspended or expelled from school, yet little attention is given to school exclusion, bullying and a lack of cultural safety in schools as the root cause.

Igniting Change invites you to a conversation with Rosie Thomas (Co-Founder, PROJECT ROCKIT) and Nhial Deng (Co-Founder & CEO, Mät Foundation) alongside filmmaker Sue Thomson, whose new documentary Primary School follows her award-winning films Undercover and CARELESS. We’ll explore what kind and culturally grounded education looks like and how it forms the foundations for the whole community.
